(FRANKFURT) —Eighty-five years after the Kristallnacht pogroms that saw 1,400 synagoges destroyed across Germany, as well as Jewish homes and stores vandalized, some people in Frankfurt, Germany, are coming together to show solidarity for Israel after the horrific terrorist attacks on October 7th.

Thousands of heavily armed Hamas gunmen stormed into southern Israel brutally killing 1,400 people, injuring more than 5,000, and kidnapping 242 people deep into Gaza. Israel has responded by attacking the Hamas controlled area by air, sea, and through ground operations in a bid to eradicate Hamas and free the hostages.

Since the terrorist attack the world has seen a dramatic rise in antisemitism, physical and verbal attacks on Jews – including in Germany, the country responsible for the Holocaust.

Officials in the German government have said the rise of anti-semitism in that country is especially concerning due to their “special responsibility to Israel and the Jewish people.”

At this week’s rally in Frankfurt, the goal was to take a stand against the rise of anti-Jewish sentiment, to show solidarity with Israel, and to pray for the safe return of the 240 hostages held by Hamas.
