Mother-daughter duo Deniz Kuloglu and Elvan Böninger have shaken up Frankfurt’s fashion scene. The two have recently launched Bazaar Rumi, an online marketplace for handmade items from Turkey. The jackets, bags, and home textiles are sustainably handcrafted in Uzbekistan and made from cotton and silk.
Deniz and Elvan have always had a passion for unique clothes and designs. A recent trip to New York City inspired them to start Bazaar Rumi after they were stopped by people on the street asking about their jackets.
Sustainability and women’s empowerment are significant in Bazaar Rumi’s philosophy. The textiles are sourced from Turkey, and the intricate designs are hand-woven by women in Uzbekistan.
Bazaar Rumi is giving Frankfurt’s otherwise very conservative fashion scene a much-needed boost and new perspectives.
