(HACKENSACK, NEW JERSEY)  B & W stands for Boehringer & Weimer, a German bakery in Hackensack that has been open since 1948. B & W Bakery is located at 614 Main Street.

The bakery is home to what many would say is New Jersey’s best crumb cake which is about 2/3 crumb and 1/3 cake. For a real experience, you must either go to the store to pick up or pay with cash only.

They bake their crumb cakes all day long, making nearly 2,000 pounds of the famous extra-crumbly crumb cake a week. Store manager Elvis Chen spoke to the Click News and said “This bakery has used the same secret crumb cake recipe for 75 years.”

No bakery could have survived years and years like B&W if they only had one great product. They also have cookies, cupcakes, Danish, eclairs, and other pastries.

The bakers start working at 5:30am and that’s when they start making every pastery in the shop, fresh for the day. Doors are unlocked at 6:30 a.m. and at 6:35 a.m. that is when customers start walking in. Once 10 a.m. hits the bakery gets busy and the line starts going out the door. This bakery is busy from the second they unlock their doors to the minute the close at 6 p.m.
