Election 2024

Nothing has been predictable about the 2024 U.S. Election, from a last-minute switch at the top of the Democratic ticket from President Joe Biden to Vice President Kamala Harris to two assassination attempts on former President Donald Trump.

Apart from the enormous attention paid to the U.S. presidential race, voters will decide which party controls the U.S. House and Senate, and there are high-stakes races in every state and city. Voters will also decide on a consequential range of state ballot issues including abortion access, green initiatives, raising taxes to increase firefighter salaries, protecting wildlife, and many others.

As in 2000 and 2020, the 2024 election might be contested with final results taking days if not weeks to confirm. Threats of political violence against poll workers and candidates raise the specter of another January 6.

The Click will follow these races and issues from more than 20 states and four countries until all the votes are counted.
