Election 2024

Nothing has been predictable about the 2024 U.S. election, from a last-minute switch at the top of the Democratic ticket from President Joe Biden to Vice President Kamala Harris to two assassination attempts on former President Donald Trump.

Apart from the enormous attention paid to the U.S. presidential race, voters will decide which party controls the U.S. House and Senate, and there are high-stakes races in every state and city. Voters will also decide on a  range of consequential state ballot issues including abortion access, green initiatives, raising taxes to increase firefighter salaries, protecting wildlife, and others.

As in 2000 and 2020, aspects of the 2024 election could be contested with final results taking days, if not weeks, to confirm. The Click will follow select races and issues with reporting from more than 20 states and four countries until all the votes are counted and results certified.
