(NEW YORK) — The American Arts & Culture sector contributes $877 billion to the nation’s economy and houses over 5.1 million jobs. But when it comes to COVID-19 relief efforts, it has been largely left out of the conversation.

Activists from the community are bringing awareness to their need for help, as theaters, music venues, and museums remain shuttered for the foreseeable future. 63% of cultural workers report being fully unemployed.

The grassroots organization Be An #Arts Hero is working with legislators on the DAWN Act to allocate proportionate financial relief to the entire Arts & Culture industry.

Watch this video to hear from co-organizer of Be An #Arts Hero, Carson Elrod.
