Halloweek in Chicago Ends with the Arts in the Dark Parade

(CHICAGO) — The Halloween season came to an end in Chicago with the finale of the city’s “Halloweek,” an eight-day event filled with activities and events celebrating the holiday. The Arts in the Dark Parade, organized by the artistic non-profit organization, LUMA8, kicked off at 6 pm. on the historic State St. in the Downtown Loop. 2021 marked the 7th year for the parade, and it has become a large collaboration of creative arts, culture, and performance organizations. 

Some of the participating organizations included the Chicago Cirque Experience and the South Side Jazz Coalition. 

The Click spoke with a group from the Chicagoland Suburbs that came down just for the parade,

Asking how they found out about the parade, one of the women said, “I actually googled it because last year I attended in Boystown, so that’s the reason I wanted the whole group to have an experience.” 

Last year, Chicago was in the midst of high COVID-19 outbreaks, limiting Halloween events around the city. “We definitely recommend everyone get vaccinated so we can all enjoy it like this,” her friend chimed in.

The Arts in the Dark Parade procession went for 1.7 miles south down State St. from Lake St. to Van Buren St.
