(NEW YORK) — Broadway is back – and so are the show tunes at Ellen’s Stardust Diner down the street.

On Nov. 16, the popular tourist spot opened its doors to customers for the first time since 2020. The diner is known for its singing waitstaff, many of whom are aspiring Broadway performers, who serve up show tunes in between sandwiches and shakes.

Shannon Janee Antalan, a server, said it  was “exhilarating” to be back doing what she loves. More importantly though, being back at Ellen’s meant stability after a difficult pandemic.

“I actually have two school age children so I was homeschooling and trying to provide for them,” she said. “It’s been a very difficult time but we made it through and here we are.”

The Times Square institution, located on 51st and Broadway, is open every day from 11 a.m. to midnight.
