October is breast cancer awareness month—an annual campaign to raise awareness about the disease. As the end of the month nears, Shing Ong—trainer, health coach, and founder of Body Balance Lifestyle gave a group of women a way to embrace their bodies.

Body Balance Lifestyle partnered up with Fria Jewelry—a company striving to change the narrative around menopause, to host a strong, sexy, and fabulous workout using something we can all find in our homes — a chair.

The 90-minute class focused on strength and toning using a variety of chair movements to the beat of some of today’s most popular music.

Shing’s struggle with body image developed in large part to her homeland of Asia, where she was taught that all things beautiful were petite. That led to all sorts of problems for her but she found her answer in pilates.

“I enjoy going to pilates class a lot. I really want women to feel the same feeling as I feel because I feel more confident.”

From there, Body Balance Lifestyle emerged and is used to encourage other women to feel that same level of confidence while doing fun workouts that don’t require a bulky machine.

“That’s what I love about her workouts. She’s really about supporting the busy entrepreneur and businesswoman to focus on their confidence and feel comfortable in their own skin,” said class attendee Paulina Lopez.

Many of the women taking the class, know someone who has been impacted by the disease and came out today to show their support.

All proceeds from the event will be donated to the National Breast Cancer Foundation.
