Louisiana State University is a college that sits in the heart of Baton Rouge, La., and is home to the LSU Tigers.
Over 30,000 students attend LSU each year, and the university offers over 300 degree programs students can study and choose from when attending.
The college is the only university in the United States with a live mascot living on campus– Mike the Tiger who was first brought to LSU in 1936 by Athletic Department trainer Chellis “Mike” Chambers. While Mike I died in 1956, the university continues to bring in a live tiger. Mike VII moved on campus in 2017.
Students come to LSU from all over the world to enjoy the outdoor areas, pet-friendly spaces, and most importantly, the community. The Click spoke with LSU students around campus to hear what they love about the campus.
“What I love about LSU is the quad,” a graduating LSU senior said. “I like to sit outside and I like to people watch.”
Another student said, “I love LSU because I love the people that I’ve met here.”
This response was common amongst students at LSU. Another student told us, “One thing I like about LSU is the community.”
Baton Rouge natives, alumni, vacationers, and students visit the university year-round to experience the community that’s been created.
