The National Championship Air Races in Reno, Nevada have been relocated to Roswell, New Mexico, according to the Reno Air Race Association (RARA).

This move will divert nearly $160 million dollars away from Reno’s economy leaving locals wondering how this will change revenues for local businesses. Newcomer Dragon Lights Reno, now in its third season annually, hosted by Tianyu Arts and Culture Inc. in partnership with Washoe County Parks and the Wilbur D. May Museum and Arboretum hopes to be an example of the success that can be found in northern Nevada.

@nyu_ajo Last year, Reno bid farewell to the National Championship Air Races after 60 years as a tourist magnet for the city, opening doors for newcomers like Dragon Lights Reno to shine. The festival’s lanterns glowed in the May Center’s arboretum in Rancho San Rafael Park, drawing crowds for spectacular visuals, food, games and fun. #reno #maycenter #nevada ♬ original sound – American Journalism Online
