Television plays a huge part of the Holy Month of Ramadan in Egypt. Families gather around to watch tv shows. This year, there was a controversy surrounding some tv shows which do not reflect the culture of what Egypt represents.

Due to the controversy, Egyptian Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly announced that there will be a committee overseeing the productions of Egyptian dramas for the foreseeable future.

The head of the national media authority, Ahmed El-Moslemany  announced a convention which will be held in April to discuss controls over the film and tv industry, and to come up with a path forward.
