Liza Kaufman Hogan teaches Reporting and Writing for NYU’s American Journalism Online master’s program. She started her 30-year career in journalism covering local government for The Northern Virginia Sun and federal courts for The Fulton County Daily Report. In 1995, she helped start CNN.com as a founding writer and in 2011, she helped launch PBS’s NextAvenue.org. She later led media partnerships at NerdWallet and served as editorial director for Atlantic57, the consulting division of The Atlantic. She earned her master’s in journalism from Northwestern’s Medill School of Journalism and has been teaching in NYU’s American Journalism Online master’s program since 2019.
