(SAN ANTONIO)- DOGE’s contract cuts are hitting San Antonio harder than any other city in Texas. Elon Musk and his cost-cutting agency has killed more than $272 million in contracts across the state. Maxwell Hightower, who used to work as an electronic health record general consultant for Veteran Affairs, is one of those impacted by the layoffs.

Hightower is a 20-year Army veteran and believes these contract cuts are more harmful than helpful to working-class Americans. He is particularly concerned for those who depended on that single salary to provide for their families.
