(Harlem) Cuisine, community and culture are at the center of Harlem’s new Uptown Night Market.
The monthly open-air festival, which started this summer, was born out of a desire to create a sense of normalcy in the community after COVID-19 and to allow local businesses to showcase themselves after a year of lockdown.
October’s edition of the festival featured over forty food and artisan vendors along with musical performances by local groups.
“I get so much support here in Harlem,” said Krystal Gittens, whose business Booze Scoops has participated in the market three times. “I’m looking forward to next year’s season.”
The market, which is free to attend and takes place underneath the Riverside Drive Viaduct near 135th Street, will be held once more on Nov. 11 from 4-10 p.m before it closes for the winter.
