(PORTLAND, Ore.) — The Tony-Award-nominated musical comedy Tootsie, adapted from the 80s cult classic film, is coming to Portland. Local theater company Stumptown Stages opens the show on March 21st at the Winningstad Theatre.
Co-director and actor Emily Alexander explained the show follows a formerly unsuccessful actor, Michael Dorsey, pursuing Broadway stardom by posing as a woman. The leading role is being played by Stumptown’s own Artistic Director, Kirk Mouser.
Mouser founded Stumptown Stages in 2004 when he returned home from twenty years in New York City. His co-star, Julie Nichols, is played by local actress Courtney Fero.
Rehearsals are currently underway for this four-weekend run of shows. Visit www.StumptownStages.org to purchase tickets*.
*$5 Arts for All tickets are also available to those who qualify.
