Artificial Intelligence (AI) has found its way into the office spaces, homes, and classrooms of the world with a rapid speed. While AI technology is far from new, large language model programs such as ChatGPT and DALL.E have made the world of AI accessible to the masses. Its capabilities have created new possibilities, but fears remain regarding where it gets its information, what it generates, and what the future holds for certain professions—ahem…journalism.

This summer, we were tasked with one goal—embracing AI head-on to see how it could be used to enhance journalistic endeavors.

Our backgrounds are different. From former software engineers to novice users, we spent weeks pushing ourselves and the boundaries of AI. Our experiences are noted in our work.

Here we present to you, The AI-Augmented Journalist.
